San Francisco Rising Executive Director Celi Tamayo-Lee said, “The crisis we’re in presents an opportunity to work with the community. Last week, we realized we have a city of people dedicated to helping our immigrant neighbors in material ways. … This is a good time for an agenda to pose proactive measures to support our immigrant community.”
The 10-page letter from SF Rising, an alliance of grassroots organizations, provides guidance on reforms or other actions that Tamayo-Lee and others say are critical to protecting San Francisco’s undocumented community. It asks to create a community safety plan that clarifies what residents can expect in case of a National Guard deployment, where to access resources, and how the city would protect people’s safety and rights.
